Muslims Unfairly Blamed as Trouble Makers in the Name of Terrorism: JUI-F Chief

TUNSA SHARIF: Addressing the "Istihkam Pakistan Conference," Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that Muslims are being targeted globally — subjected to violence and branded as terrorists — while those truly responsible for chaos and destruction go unchecked.

He emphasized that Muslims are not the root cause of unrest in the world. "It is the real arsonists who are spreading fire across the globe," he declared.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman pointed out that the underdevelopment of Muslim societies is being misused and their poverty perceived as weakness. “Our customs, traditions, and issues are shared. We will continue our struggle against tyranny and oppression,” he said, adding that JUI-F’s voice remains strong in the region.

He criticized ongoing calls for Muslims to remain subservient to the West, particularly the United States, saying, “We should not bow before every rising sun. Our ideology must be firm.” He stressed that Muslim identity and values should not be sacrificed to Western, European, or American norms.

“Our forefathers did not raise us to follow them blindly — they taught us to resist such subjugation,” he said.

The JUI-F chief lamented the dire situation in several Muslim countries, including Gaza, Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon, and African nations, where, according to him, the Muslim population is burning in the flames of conflict. “Children, youth, women, and the elderly in Gaza await death,” he added.

He claimed over 60,000 Muslims have been martyred by Israeli forces in Palestine. "The U.S. has cunningly diverted global attention from the Gaza issue," he stated, asserting that the United States and other Western powers are equally complicit in Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
